Russia: In its social media accounts, United Wagon Company (UWC) has posted a video of the vehicles in operation.
The comment says, “The second-generation 12-6744 gondola cars have already been operating on Russian railways, notably the Eastern Polygon.” The video shows the gondola cars loaded with coal at a surface mine and proceeding to a port equipped with a wagon tippler for unloading.
The four-axle 25 tf 12-6744 gondola car is the first model in the family of UWC’s innovative vehicles of the second generation. The wagon’s main feature is the body made of high-tensile steel from Severstal. Along with the optimised construction of the bogie, it has ensured an increase in payload to 77 t and a higher cubic capacity of 94 m3. This February, the Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (part of UWC) launched serial production of the 12-6744 wagons, with a plan to manufacture at least 5,000 such cars by the end of the year, according to UWC’s representative.

The coal logistics industry needs such wagons as the 12-6744, as noticed in March by Igor Kurotchenko, Sibkor’s Head for Strategy and Analytics. UWC has recently announced that the gondola cars are considered for delivery to the logistics company Transport Technologies.
