Belarus: Anatoly Sivak, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister, stated that. He was cited by the news agency EADail as saying that there were totally 1,510 cars acquired to date.
A new fleet is needed due to the Belarusian Railway’s and other owners’ loss of more than 7,000 cars, which being on the territory of Ukraine, were illegally confiscated by the country after the conflict with Russia erupted. Previously, Anatoly Sivak said that almost 2,900 cars were acquired from January to October 2023 to compensate for the losses.
According to the Wagon Sector Commission of the Council for Rail Transport of Community of Independent States, there were 46,400 freight cars in the Belarusian fleet by the end of June (+1.5% since the beginning of the year), with 53% of them being inventory rolling stock of the Belarusian Railway.
ROLLINGSTOCK analytics say currently freight cars in Belarus are built by Mogilev Carriage Works and Osipovichi Transport Engineering Works. For 2023 and the first half of 2024, they produced a total of 5,000 cars.
