EU: According to the contract signed with one of the EU’s leading lessors, the Bogie IQ gateways will be mounted on the bogies of all new wagons. In the first stage, the new solution will provide information about wheel slides and wheelset faults. Further, the monitoring system will also include bearing diagnostics.

In 2023, Amsted Rail and Greenbrier Leasing Europe (part of the American car-building company Greenbrier) signed a long-term agreement for the delivery of the IQ Series telematics. All the new wagons have since been equipped with the gateways which ensure real-time monitoring of location, mileage, and load status.

The IQ Series gateways on solar batteries are reported to operate autonomously for 10 years, with their firmware upgraded remotely. The data is processed and analysed on the Supply Chain Visibility software platform using machine learning.

Greenbrier is leasing around 17,000 freight cars across North America and Europe (the fleet sizes by regions are not published). Last year, the company’s revenue from wagon leasing reached $249 mln (a 7% increase in comparison with 2024).
