It produces a range of sensors capable of transmitting data to a cloud. During the certification process, Wabtec’s sensors have exceeded the requirements for uptime and data accuracy, the company says.

RailPulse is a coalition of 11 North American companies that have come together around the idea of using telematics technology in freight cars. Its members are either operators such as CSX, Norfolk Southern, CPKC, Union Pacific, GATX, etc., or railcar builders such as Greenbrier and Trinity Rail. Last year, RailPulse launched a freight car telematics platform.
Members of the coalition have special access to telematics solutions from Nexxiot, ZTR or Amsted Digital, while only Wabtec offers the widest range of sensors. For example, it is the only company that makes sensors for measuring temperature or pressure, or for assessing the condition of brake systems.
