USA: The holding has announced the completion of the deal begun in 2025 to buy Dellner Couplers. The manufacturer of couplers and draft gear, as well as intercar gangways and other components, has been acquired from Swedish investment firm EQT for $960 mln. It is claimed the deal will enable Wabtec to strengthen its position in the market for critical systems for passenger rolling stock.
Dellner Couplers currently employs around 1,700 staff. In addition to its main facility in Sweden, the company has production sites in Poland, the US, and China, plus several service centres worldwide. As the analytical Telegram channel ‘Snowy Lion’ reports, Wabtec will be able to increase its share of the growing global coupler market to 30–35% through the purchase of Dellner, gain important access to the gangway market, and achieve other synergies.
In recent years, Wabtec has actively expanded its expertise in components, monitoring systems, and traffic management through acquisitions of various companies. For example, the holding acquired rail divisions from US firm Collins Aerospace and Japan’s Evident. It also bought Spanish electrical equipment maker Fanox, Slovak pantograph components specialist Kompozitum, and Austrian telemetry sensor producer Frauscher Sensor Technology.
According to Wabtec’s annual reporting, 2025 revenue exceeded $11 bln (+7.5% on 2024), with net profit at $1.2 bln (+11%). The freight solutions segment, including locomotives, generated more than $8 bln in revenue (+8%), while passenger transport brought in over $3 bln (+7%). The holding’s order book at end-2025 stood at $27 bln (+23%), of which 82% related to freight technologies. Thus, building assets in the passenger segment appears a logical step for Wabtec.
