Russia: The design and preparation for production of this component at the Demikhovo Engineering Works, DMZ, part of TMH, Russia, took 18 months.
The plant delivered the first batch in May and already in November produced 50 units for the Ivolga 4.0 trains. According to the parent company, DMZ has increased its annual output to 600 reduction drives with a service life of 40 years. The units are designed for gearmotors as part of the drive system.
The RUB 1.8 bln ($17.4 mln) project under the import substitution programme, under which DMZ has received a preferential loan of RUB 1.45 bln ($14 mln) from the Industrial Development Fund. Acquisitions for these funds included 11 units of production equipment.
Another market player, Ural Locomotives, part of Sinara Group, unveiled in 2023 its reduction drive, used in the Finist EMUs.
