Poland, UK: The global rolling stock market players are creating new centers for components and signalling systems production.
Stadler has launched a new plant in Białystok, Poland, which will manufacture traction and auxiliary power converters as well as battery chargers. The production volume is expected to be more than 500 units per year. The components will be designed for urban rail transport and limited batches of vehicles for rack and pinion and narrow-gauge railways. The plant covers 7,000 m2 and creates 100 jobs, ultimately it will employ up to 250 people.

Similarly, plans to build a new Siemens Mobility factory in Chippenham have been approved by Wiltshire Council, UK. The factory will replace the manufacturer’s current site, which has been operating since 1897 and belonged to Invensys Rail until 2013, when Siemens Mobility acquired the company, and the site became part of the manufacturer’s network. The project will receive £100 mln (€119.2 mln) in investment. The factory in Chippenham is to open by 2026 and with about 800 employees, it will produce rail signalling and control systems.
