Czechia: The rolling stock manufacturer has acquired 100% of the shares in Cegelec, a Czech company, which has been part of the French Vinci since 2010.

Škoda Group has announced that the acquisition will allow it to add new items to its product and service portfolio. Cegelec will become a part of Škoda Electric, operating under the name of Electric Components.

Cegelec has a long history, tracing its roots back to 1956 when a division for the development of semiconductor components for trams and trolleybuses was established at the ČKD plant. The company’s production facilities are currently located in Prague. According to the website, the company produces traction stations and electrical equipment for trams, metro cars, trains, etc. Cegelec works in collaboration with other companies on the modernisation of rolling stock, with a particular focus on ČKD trams.
