A new plant covering about 20,000 m2 is being under construction in German municipality Luhe-Wildenau. The total amount of investment into the project is about €35 mln, with €22 mln being the company’s own funds.

The plant with 200 employees is expected to be launched in October 2027. It will focus on production of traction batteries and accompanying equipment for Siemens Mobility trains and locomotives as well as for external customers. Siemens Mobility already operates a production facility in Luhe-Wildenau, where preliminary assembly of battery modules is carried out.

The company’s portfolio includes two models of BEMUs: Mireo Plus B and Mireo Smart Plus B. In addition, this summer saw the launch of the first passenger electric locomotive Charger B+AC with batteries. A similar freight locomotive is under development.
