Austria: Liebherr-Transportation Systems, a rail system and component manufacturer, has entered into a contract with the Swiss car builder for the delivery of 80 HVAC systems. This represents the first serial order that Liebherr has received for such equipment.
The deliveries are scheduled to take place between mid-September 2024 and the end of 2026. The HVAC systems will be used in 20 FLIRT EMUs ordered by the Finnish operator VR Group in the autumn of 2022. The contract includes an option for a further 50 trains.
To ensure compliance with safety regulations, the equipment was developed in cooperation with TÜV SÜD. In addition, its range of propane HVAC equipment, Liebherr-Transportation Systems also produces air and carbon dioxide systems. The propane solution was selected for the Stadler trains due to its environmentally sustainable and reliable credentials.
