Germany: The component manufacturer has used the innovative Hübner EcoTex fabric as the main material for a bellows construction. The fabric is made from recycled fishing net nylon and eco-friendly raw materials based on cellulose and viscose.
The fabric is reported to meet all the technical requirements for the bellows materials. In addition, its production does not necessitate solvents and can reduce CO₂ emissions by 45% in comparison with conventional materials.

The Hübner Group presented the technology for the first time at InnoTrans 2024. In cooperation with the German operator of Kassel, KVG, the new bellows has now been installed on the three-section 8NGTW (Flexity Classic) tram as part of its refurbishment. The vehicle was originally produced by Bombardier Transportation (acquired by Alstom in 2021) almost 25 years ago. The new material will be tested during regular operation for further improvements.
