Germany: The company’s solution has been unveiled at InnoTrans 2024 in Berlin. The core element of the FrontAdd System is a corrugated bellows installed onto the front coupling of the train.
According to Hübner, the solution is beneficial in a number of ways. First, the bellows protects the train components, including cables and the motor, from environmental influences. Second, the FrontAdd System allows for improving the aerodynamics of the vehicles, thus reducing energy consumption for approximately two percent. Third, the new system has a sound insulating effect which reduces a noise level in the driver’s cab.
The FrontAdd System is compatible with various coupling models. The solution is already integrated into Alstom’s IC5 Coradia Stream EMUs for the Danish operator DSB.
In the course of the exhibition, Hübner has also presented other innovations, such as an automated gangway coupling system and holographic displays in windows.
